Celebrating Sustainability Day 2023
Explore Transform ESG's 2023 journey on World Sustainability Day. Learn about our community engagement and impactful partnerships.
To celebrate this year's World Sustainability Day at Transform ESG, we are delighted to share with you a series of activities that took place in 2023. These initiatives were designed to engage and inspire our community and businesses to take meaningful action toward a sustainable future.
Bridging the Say-Do Gap: Insights from Veronica Hannon
To kick off our journey, our inspirational Founder and Director, Veronica Hannon, explained the core mission of Transform ESG and our partnership with Action Net Zero on film. Her insights shed light on how we bridge the "say-do gap" and turn our sustainability aspirations into action.
Engaging the Community: ESG Awareness in Bath
As part of our mission to inform and educate the community around Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, our team, along with our Director and Co-Founder, Daniel O'Connor, ventured out to the beautiful city of Bath. We chatted to people to find out their level of awareness regarding ESG and NetZero.
Collaborative Partnerships for a Sustainable Future: The Large Business Forum
In a combined effort to accelerate positive change, we partnered with the University of Bath, Bath & North East Somerset (BANES) Council and the West of England Combined Authority to call on Large Businesses to be part of the conversation to move ESG forward and take action for a sustainable future. We were joined by our partners at the Large Business Forum which took place in June.
On the first day of the Large Business Forum, we led a thought-provoking round table discussion. The event brought together key figures from academia, large industry, and government, further solidifying the importance of collaboration. University of Bath's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ian White, and Dan Norris, Metro Mayor for the West of England Combined Authority, led the discussion.
The Large Business Forum was a resounding success. Over thirty business leaders from a variety of sectors in the South West came together to connect and collaborate with others who share a commitment to ESG principles. Experts shared insights, discussed the benefits of different ESG approaches and frameworks, and highlighted the value that ESG brings to businesses. In addition, two engaging panel sessions on "Creating Carbon-Neutral Thriving Communities" and "ESG in Action" offered real-world examples and invaluable insights into the practical applications of ESG principles.
Interviews:
The level of engagement was phenomenal, and it was positive to hear how far some organisations have already progressed on their ESG journey — we are glad the event opened people’s minds to the power of collaboration to create tangible change. We will be organising more of these events in the future to keep the conversation going and encourage large businesses to take meaningful action.
Preserving Our Natural Environment: The River Clean Activity
And, of course, we couldn't overlook our annual river clean. It's a tradition that we hold dear, and this year was no different. Our community came together to protect our rivers and the local wildlife. It was a fulfilling day, symbolising our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship.
Our efforts are ongoing and these initiatives mark just a fraction of the work we do to make the world a more sustainable place. We hope that our actions serve as a source of inspiration for our community and businesses.
