Collaborate for climate: Net Zero Goals and Roadmap Breakfast

In November 2022, we were delighted to welcome South West business leaders to Bristol for our Net Zero Goals and Roadmap event, in partnership with Insider Media and Action Net Zero.

With many committing to net zero by 2030, sustainability and ESG has climbed to the top of agendas for many organisations. Decarbonisation and renewables will be integral to this journey – but what else?

We heard from our region’s business leaders on the steps they are taking towards net zero. Covering issues from taking ownership of buying and using energy, to taking advantage of innovations in renewables and more, we would like to thank all attendees and speakers for their advice and input.

“It’s very easy as an individual to think you don’t have the power to make any change, so it’s important that, as leaders, we’re able to spread the right message of how we’re all working together towards these goals.”
Kate Wilson, President of Edwards Semiconductor

Our speakers came from a range of backgrounds and industries, including finance, engineering, and energy. The panel included:

Kate Wilson, President, Edwards Semiconductor
Pam Barbato, Founder, Action Net Zero
Bianca Laura Latini, Senior Sustainability Engineer, Buro Happold
Amelia Heimler, Climate and Sustainable Finance Manager, NatWest Group
Peter Capener, Managing Director, Bath and West Community Energy

If you couldn’t make it, watch the recorded stream courtesy of Insider Media to hear more about their net zero journeys. Or read our coverage in South West Business Insider:

“The seven years we have is a critical aim. The context is that this is a huge challenge for any organisation and especially around scope three of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, which is largely considered the pathway to follow.”
Pam Barbato, Action Net Zero

Once again, we would like to thank everyone who spoke and exhibited at the event. The climate crisis is the most pressing issue of our age, and it is heartening to see so many in our region who are already making a real difference. As the need for tangible action grows, we have confidence that it will be those in the South West leading the way.
